Melanie Lynskey
Melanie Jayne Lynskey was born on May 16, 1977, in New Zealand. Known for her portrayals of complex women and her command of American dialects, she is a performer mostly in independent films. Lynskey was awarded two Critics Choice Awards. A Gracie or an New Zealand Film Award. A Hollywood Film Award. Sundance Special Jury Award. Gotham, Satellite and Saturn. Independent Spirit. Lynskey was a screen actress at the time she made her debut in Heavenly Creatures (1994). She was awarded a New Zealand Film Award for her role in the film as Pauline Parker, a teenage serial killer. She then appeared in numerous productions in the world, including Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock City, But I'm a Cheerleader, The Cherry Orchard (all 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000), Snakeskin (2001), Shooters, Abandon, and Sweet Home Alabama (all 2002). Lynskey was an actor with a lot of recognition after making the move to the United States. She is best known for her roles in a myriad of small-scale and big-budget films such as Shattered Glass (2003) and Flags of Our Fathers (2006).
Lynskey was nominated for an Gotham Award in 2012 for her performance as a depressed ex-wife in Hello I Must Be Going. It was an important change in her professional career.
